Sock Blank Dyeing

Learn how to dye yarn by hand painting a sock blank.  All supplies included.  You will learn how to simply dye a pre-knit piece of sock yarn, 100gms approx 400+ yards.  Lots of colors available, and if you need some inspiration before class, take a look at this search on pinterest.  Or, why not snoop around in this group on Ravelry?

All supplies are included in the class fee.  You will take home a rolled up, dyed skein of sock yarn.  To set the dye, it needs to be steamed in a pot over boiling water (just like broccoli!) for 30 minutes when you get home.  Then let it cool, rinse & wash it out gently by hand, then roll in a towel, and hang to dry.  A day or two later, you can unravel your yarn so you can knit or crochet it up into socks, a hat, gloves, a cowl, a scarf, a baby sweater or a shawl.  We also have plenty of dyeable yarns and dyes suitable for wool or cotton dyeing.

Please wear old clothes/shoes in case of dye spots.
